3 people killed in clashes in Sulaymaniyah 2025-08-22 11:28:29   NEWS CENTER - In Sulaymaniyah of Federated Kurdistan Region, 3 people were killed and 15 people were wounded in clashes that broke out after the arrest warrand issued against Lahur Sheikh Cengi, former co-chair of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and leader of Berey Gel (Popular Fron    Sulaymaniyah Public Security Investigation Court issued an official arrest warrant against Sheikh Cengi on the charge of "endangering security and destabilisation" in accordance with Article 56 of the Iraqi Penal Code.    Clashes broke out between Sulaymaniyah security forces and the forces loyal to Sheikh Cengi when they tried to enter Lalezar Hotel where Sheikh Cengi was staying. After 3 hours of clashes, Sheikh Cengi was detained.    According to Rojnews, Sheikh Cengi, and his brothers Polad Sheikh Cengi and Aso Sheikh Cengi  were detained by the security forces. It is also stated that Rebwar Hami Haci Khali, the general in charge of the armed forces of Lahur Sheikh Cengi, surrendered to the security forces.    On the other hand, the forces loyal to Lahur Sheikh Cengi did not share any information about the number of dead and wounded.
