ŞIRNAK - Daughter of epilepsy patient Kadir Güngen, being held in Kalkandere Type L Prison told that her father has been detoriorating and demanded her father to be transferred to a prison closer to home.
Kadir Güngen, who was detained and arrested on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization" and "providing weapons to a terrorist organization" after the curfew declared in Şırnak's İdil district in 2016, was sentenced to 22 years in prison. Güngen, whose sentence was upheld by the Court of Appeal, was transferred to Rize Kalkandere L Type Closed Prison after being held in Siirt E Type Closed Prison for a while. Güngen, who has been held in Rize for about 3 years, has frequent crises due to epilepsy. The family stated that Güngen's condition was getting worse day by day and demanded that he be transferred to a nearby prison.
REQUEST FOR GÜNGEN TO BE TRANSFERRED TO A CLOSER PRISON
Stating that they were able to visit their father in prison while he was in Siirt Prison, Güngen's daughter Zahide Güngen said they weren't able to visit their father since he was transferred to Rize. Günden underlined that they applied several times for him to be transferred to a closer prison but their applications were rejected. Pointing out that his father should be transferred to a prison in Şırnak or Diyarbakır, Güngen said they could only speak to their father on the phone.
MEDICAL CONDITION
Pointing out to the medical condition of her father, Günden said: "He is suffering from epilepsy. He is having episodes and falls as a result of it. He has bruises all over his face and body. He should be taken care of. He said his medicine are not given and he is not being treated. My father should be in treatment."
