NEWS CENTER - 44 Arab intellectuals asked the OPCW to send a commission to investigate the areas where Turkey used chemical weapons.
A letter was sent to United Nations (UN) Disarmament Affairs Office and the Executive Committee of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Turkey's cross-border operation, which has been carried out since 23 April, by 109 names from the Federal Kurdistan Region and Iraq, including intellectuals, writers, parliamentarians, journalists, university lecturers. 44 Iraqi intellectuals also sent a letter with the same request. 44 intellectuals stated that there are important findings regarding the use of chemical weapons in the Federated Kurdistan Region and called on international institutions to send a commissions to the region for research.
In the letter sent by 44 Arab intellectuals, files and images from the region in recent months that the Turkish army used chemical weapons against the Kurdish people was attached, which is prohibited all over the world. "The Turkish state is committing the same crimes as Saddam Hussein, using chemical weapons against the Kurdish people," the letter said. An urgent call was made to the OPCW, saying, "The OPCW should send a commission to the area where the Turkish state is using prohibited chemical weapons."
