ANKARA - Vedat Erkmen, a prisoner in Tekirdağ F Type Prison, died under suspicious circumstances.
Vedat Erkmen, who was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment and 374 more years in Tekirdağ Type F Prison, died suspiciously in his cell. Called by the prison administration at around 9:00 p.m., his family was informed that he committed suicide in the cell where Erkmen was held.
The prison administration also told the family that they tried to take Erkmen to the hospital, but he died on the road to the hospital. It was learned that Erkmen's relatives in Istanbul were on their way to Tekirdağ with their lawyers.
'WE DO NOT ACCEPT THIS SITATION TO BE NORMAL'
An association for solidarity with the families of the prisoners, MED TUHAD-FED shared the following message from Twitter: "We have recieved another very sad news from prison. Vedat Erkmen from Tekirdap Type F Prison passed away. We do not accept these deaths in prison to be normal. We call on to the authorities to be more responsible. We will be the followers of the process. Condolences to the families and loved ones of Vedat Erkmen."
