İSTANBUL - Saim Erkmen, elder brother of prisoner Vedat Erkmen, who died suspiciously in Tekirdağ Prison, said: "The state executed my brother."
Vedat Erkmen, who was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment and 374 more years in Tekirdağ Type F Prison, died suspiciously in his cell. Called by the prison administration at around 9:00 p.m., his family was informed that he allegedly committed suicide in his cell. The body of Erkmen that was brought to the İstanbul Küçükçekmece Cemeteries Directorate, was abducted by the police. It was learned that the body of Erkmen was taken to a military foundation called the Mehmetçik Foundation.
HE WAS TAKEN TO FORENSIC MEDICINE INSTITUDE WITHOUT INFORMING THE FAMILY
Brother of Erkmen, Saim Erkmen told that they were called around 21.00 last night, told that the prison administration told them his brother had committed suicide. Underlining that he did not believehis brother had committed suicide, Erkmen said: "My brother would never commit suicide. The state killed him. And to cover up this murder, they rushed him to the morgue of the Forensic Medicine Institude without informing us."
AUTOPSY DONE IN SECRET
Critisizing the fact that the lawyers were not informed before the autopsy, Erkmen said: "They executed my brother. They did the autopsy in secret because they killed him themselves."
