MARDİN - Ali Aslan, an ill prisoner from Diyarbakır No 4 Type T Closed Prison said 4 people are given food that could only feed a child and they are under constant pressure and prevented from exercising their rights.
HDP Mardin former Provincial Co-Chair Ali Aslan, who is being held in Diyarbakir No. 4 Type T Closed Prison, conveyed the rights violations they experienced to his family during visit. Aslan, who suffers from diabetese and high blood pressure stated that they were being starved in prison said, "Most of the days they do not give us any food. The food they give to 4 people is only enough to feed a 6-year-old child. Sometimes we go to bed hungry at night. When we ask for something from the canteen with our own money, they give half of it. They say this is all we deserve."
Arrested in December 2019 and transferred to Diyarbakır involuntarily 9 months ago from Mardin Type E Closed Prison, Aslan noted that despite their demands, they are not transferred to the blocks where political prisoners are held. Expressing that they are held under difficult conditions in prison, Aslan said, "We are under constant pressure here."
