İSTANBUL - Journalist Ferhat Çelik who was sent to court to give his statement was detained again in scope of another investigation right after he was released.
Ferhat Çelik, the Editor in Chief of Mesopotamia Agency (MA) who was detained last night by the police at his home in İstanbul, Şişli as part of an investigation run by Antep Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was taken to Feriköy Police Station. Çelik was later referred to court for a statement. Çelik who was released after giving his statement on the accusation of 'propagandizing for a terrorist organisation' for the social media posts of Mesopotamia Agency (MA), was detained again as he was leaving the court house. Çelik was questioned about the articles of MA published between August 2020 and September 2020.
The reason why Çelik was detained again remains unknown. Çelik was taken to District Security Directorate in Mecidiyeköy district of İstanbul.
