Prisoner's mother: Let's be a voice for prisons

XARPÊT - Stating that she could not hear from her child who is in action, Ayhan Kevser called on all segments of society to "be a voice to the prisons" to end the isolation.

Prisoners' protests continue within the scope of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and democratic solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign. The periodic and rotating hunger strike actions started by the prisoners on November 27, 2023 moved to a new stage on April 4. Prisoners boycott the courts and do not attend family and telephone meetings.

Ayhan Kevser, mother of Kadir Kevser, who is held in Elazığ High Security Prison No. 2, stated that she was worried because she could not hear from her son.

'ISOLATION MUST BE ABOLISHED'

Mother Kevser, who last met with her son in April, said: “My son has been in prison for 10 years, I have been to all visits during this 10-year period. I haven't heard from my son for more than a month, I can't accept this situation. No mother can handle this. This torture of mothers must end, mothers should not cry anymore. What will happen to our children? We cried, we don't want other mothers to cry anymore. We want this isolation to be abolished.”

Stating that her son Kadir told her in her last visit, "We do not accept this isolation" and that his actions would continue until they get results, Kevser said: "I don't know whether he is alive or ill. That being the case, I'm worried. Isolation must be abolished. The demands of our children and prisoners must be fulfilled as soon as possible. If the isolation is abolished, I am sure peace will come."
'LET'S STAND WITH THE PRISONERS'

Mother Kevser, who called on everyone to be the voice of the prisoners, said: “Since I cannot go to the meeting, I am trying to make do with photographs. I leave their photos at home on the table. I want it to be in front of my eyes, but how much comfort can I get with a piece of paper? How can I find comfort in my son without hugging him or smelling him? If there is an action regarding this issue, I will go. Because my dear, there are thousands of our prisoner friends there, not just me. They are all our children. We do not want any mother to experience this cruelty. Let's be a voice to prisons. Let's stand with the prisoners, they are not alone."
