RIHA - Kurdish politician Feridun Yazar was commemorated at his grave on the 8th anniversary of his death.
Kurdish politician Feridun Yazar, a founding member of the People's Labor Party (HEP) and one-time chair, was commemorated at his grave by his loved ones and companions on the 8th anniversary of his death. In addition to Yazar's family, Hewag (Bozova) Municipality Co-Mayors İsmail Yıldız, Aygül Kapıkayalı, People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) executives, Riha Labour and Democracy Platform members and many people attended the commemoration ceremony held at the cemetery in the rural Ordek District of Karaköprü district.
Speaking at the commemoration after the moment of silence, DEM Party Provincial Co-chair Bekir Karakeçili touched upon the Yazar's struggle and said: "He left a great legacy of resistance. We will protect this legacy. We will carry the flag he handed over to victory."
'WE ARE WALKING ON THE PATH THEY PAVED'
Yazar's daughter, Serêkaniyê Municipality Co-Mayor Rahşan Yazar, said that they were walking on the path opened by her father and his friends. Yazar said: “It is an honor to walk this path. It is an honor for me to be the co-mayor of the DEM Party, which continues the tradition of HEP, which my father founded. We try to be worthy of them. This is our biggest goal."
After the speeches, flowers were left on the grave. Later, Yazar's family house in the same neighborhood was visited.
