ANKARA - HDP, which seeks ways to meet the Republic with democracy with a sense of historical responsibility, will hold the Democratic Republic Conference on February 4-5, 2023, to which intellectuals, writers and academics will contribute.

 

Turkey, which is preparing to enter the second century of the republic in a historical interval in which war and multiple crises deepened, the global system of the world and the region was opened to discussion again. As the multi-crisis situation in the country deepens, the AKP-MHP government, which targets the opposition and democracy forces, continues to fuel enmity between peoples by increasing polarization with oppressive and authoritarian practices. As a result of these policies of the government, the crisis in Turkey, especially the Kurdish question, became a deadlock.

 

HDP'S HISTORICAL RESPONSIBILITY

 

The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) decided to hold a conference for a democratic republic in the second century against the deniak of the Kurds and extermination that has been going on for a century in the country. The date of the conference, which was decided at the party's Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting held on November 10, was determined. At the conference to be held in Istanbul on February 4-5, 2023, “What kind of Turkey is needed in the second century” will be discussed. HDP is taking action to fulfill its historical responsibility in Turkey's second century at the conference, where the forces of labor, freedom and democracy will attend and voice their demands.

 

WAYS WILL BE SOUGHT TO ESTABLISH DEMOCRACY

 

Hundreds of participants, including artists, peoples from different cultures, belief groups, labor organizations, professional organisaitons and unions, women's organizations, ecologists, disabled people, youth institutions, social and political struggle forces, intellectuals, writers and academics will be participating in the conference in which democratic republic will be discussed. In the conference where topics such as local democracy, a democratic economy, a new democratic constitution, democratic nation, women's liberation and gender equality will be strongly discussed and ways to establish democracy will be sought for the republic.
