ANKARA - Demanding lawyers to be allowed in İmralı to visit PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan in front of the parliament, HDP MPs asked why there was no response to the applications made to visit Öcalan. 

 

The daily demos Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) started in front of the Ministry of Justice for the lawyers to be allowed in İmralı to see the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues on its 6th day. HDP Spokesperson Ebru Günay, Pero Dündar, Feleknas Uca, Necdet İpekyüz, Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, Muazzez Orhan, Abdullah Koç and Kemal Peköz who started a march towards the Ministry of Justice, carried banners written "law must be applied in İmralı" and "Isolation is a crime against humanity". The members of parliament were blockaded by the police in front of the parliament.

 

REMAINING SILENCE MEANS BEING AN ACCOMPLICE

 

Making a statement on behalf of the HDP MPs, HDP Batman MP Necdet İpekyüz underlined that they took action against the isolation in İmralı years ago and the war policies have been causing pain and suffering for years. Mentioning the massacre in Roboski, İpekyüz said: "It is known by the world as a massacre of the Kurds and after all these years, it hasn't been enlightened." Underlining that everyone who tells the truth are isolated in prisons, İpekyüz told that the isolation and pressures have spreaded to the whole country because the Kurdish question is not solved. Reminding that no one has heard from Öcalan for the last 22 months, İpekyüz demanded that lawyers must be allowed in İmralı to see Öcalan. İpekyüz said: "Remaining silent in the face of injustice means being accomplice to that injustice."
