URFA - Police asked the journalists who were detained while they were following the news stories in the earthquake area, "Why did you come here?".

 

Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter Mahmut Altıntaş and JINNEWS reporter Sema Çağlak were detained, following the search and rescue efforts carried out in the Birecik district of Urfa, an earthquake area. Journalists who followed the search and rescue efforts carried out in the rubble, which was destroyed by the earthquake and where the dead bodies of 21 people were found, were detained on the grounds that they did not have the "turquoise" cards issued by the Directorate of Communications.

 

The journalists who were taken to the Birecik Police Department were asked, "Why did you come to Birecik?", "Who gave you the corporate card?" questions were asked. The journalists, whose statements were taken, were released after their press cards were confiscated.
