20 people beaten and detained in Istanbul

ISTANBUL /ADANA - 20 members of ESP, SGDF and Leverage, who wanted to make a statement in front of the courthouse for their detained members, were beaten and detained. A statement was also made in Adana in response to the detentions.

Members of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Party Council, Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) and Socialist Women's Council (SKM), wanted to make statement in front of the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan for the release of their members detained on March 12 as part of the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Members of Leverage and Revolutionary Youth Associations also supported the statement. “Detentions cannot intimidate the youth, we will hold them accountable with our revolutionary struggle!” The party members who opened the banner wanted to make a statement in front of the courthouse by chanting "Detentions cannot intimidate the youth". The crowd was besieged by the police.

JOURNALISTS HAVE BEEN BATTLE

Many journalists who wanted to shoot the blockade tried to be removed from the area by the police. Journalists reacting to the situation were beaten and removed from the area. The journalists reacted to the police by saying, "You are committing a crime now," and the police replied, "If we are committing a crime, we are committing it".

MANY DETENTIONS

The police then intervened and took the crowd into custody. Many people were beaten during the detention. It is stated that 20 people were taken into custody, and it is not known where the detainees were taken.

ADANA

In Adana, youth organizations condemned the detention of 9 people who are members of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Party Council, Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF), Socialist Women's Council (SKM) and Elif Bayburt from Effective News Agency were detained in the house raids carried out in 3 Istanbul-based provinces on March 12. Many people attended the statement made by the ESP Adana Provincial Organization. Comrade Mete, who read the press text on behalf of youth organizations, stated that the state, which did not provide aid to the people in the earthquake, targeted the youth who stand in solidarity with the people.

Calling to enlarge the struggle, Mete said: "The revolutionary youth did not and will not kneel to the oppression, detention attacks and arrests of the state from past to present. we did not leave the streets, the barricades, the campuses. We called for the immediate release of our detained friends."
