ISTANBUL -  The politicians, who stated that they will carry the rebellion that was revealed on March 8 to the Newroz area, stated that the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan is the foremost of the messages to be revealed at Newroz.

 

The 2023 Newroz, which will be held in Istanbul under the leadership of the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), with the motto "Everywhere is Newroz, everytime is freedom" and "Freedom with the fire of Newroz", will be held at Yenikapı Square in Fatih district on Sunday, March 19th. will bring people together. On March 8, International Women's Day, women voicing their revolt on the streets of Istanbul with the slogans "Government should resign" and "Jin, jiyan, azadi" are preparing to carry this revolt to the Newroz area.

 

THERE WILL BE WOMEN ON THE FRONTLINES

 

Türkan Kocadağ from HDP Istanbul Provincial Coordination stated that women will lead the Istanbul Newroz. Kocadağ said: “As women, we will shout out all our demands, rebellion, longing and anger shoulder to shoulder. Freedom is indispensable for us now. We will gain freedom of our own free will. We women want to live free and equal in this country. One of the demands that women will cry out on the Newroz arena will be the freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been in heavy isolation in İmralı Prison for 24 years and has not been heard from for the last 2 years. Our biggest demand this Newroz will be to end the isolation on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. Öcalan's physical freedom must be ensured in order to end the chaos in this country. On this Newroz, we call on all of our people, especially women, to shout for Öcalan's freedom."

 

'NEWROZ WILL BE AN IMPORTANT STAGE'

 

Stating that the 2023 Newroz fire will be lit with the slogan of establishing a country of labor and freedom, Social Freedom Party (TOP) Istanbul Provincial Spokesperson Nilay Kuş said: “We invite all peoples in Turkey to fill the spaces. This process, in which we entered the election process, will also be a very important stage that will determine the future of the peoples.”

 

Making a call to people, especially women and young people, Revolutionary Party Deputy Chairperson Burcugül Çubuk said: “Newroz is always a struggle in Turkey and Kurdistan. This Newroz, we will shout our rebellion against the politics of rent over the dead. It will be a year in which both the freedom of the Kurdish people and the liberation struggle of women and the working classes will be consolidated. As we go from Newroz to May 1, there will be a third choice of struggle. The most important feature of Newroz this year will be the message that 'we believe in the life we will build, not in the options you impose on us'.
