AMED - People are marching to Newroz Park in Amed, where the final of 2023 Newroz takes place.

 

The final celebration of Newroz, held this year with the motto "Everywhere is Newroz, Everytime is Freedom" and "Freedom with the fire of Newroz" and dedicated to those who lost their lives in the earthquakes that took place on February 6 in the center of Maraş, is held in Newroz Park in the Rêzan(Bağlar) district of Amed(Diyarbakır). The young people and the people of the city, who were mostly women, turned their direction to Newroz Park early in the morning,  waited for a long time for the search to be made in the square.

 

ENTRY FROM 5 GATES TO THE SQUARE

 

Those who were on the way to Newroz Park with slogans from early in the morning started to enter the area after the police control at two separate entrances from Qamişlo Boulevard and 4 separate entrances from Newroz Street and Bağcılar Mahallesi. After the entrance to the area started at 09:30, the entrances started from the protocol gate. Journalists were able to enter the square after passing through 3 separate search points.

 

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

 

A message of condolence was written in Kurdish on the giant stage in Newroz square, dressed in black, in the form of “Bila serê gelê me sax be” (Condolences to our people) for those who lost their lives in the Maraş-centered earthquakes.

 

THE POSTERS OF JİNA EMİNİ AND KEMAL KURKUT WERE HANGED

 

The poster of Jîna Eminî, who was murdered by the regime forces in Iran, with the words “Bi tayê porê Jîna Eminî, em ê tekoşîna jinê belli bikin(We will reveal the struggle of women with strand of Jîna Eminî)”, and the poster of Kemal Kurkut, who was murdered by the police in 2017 Amed Newroz, as “Kemal Kurkut is immortal”, were hanged. In addition to the posters are written with th slogans, "Şîna me sedema tekoşîna me ye" (Our mourning is the reason for our struggle), "Newroz cejna azadiyê" (Newroz is the festival of freedom), "Youth is the unquenchable fire of Newroz" and "Rihê 8'ê Adarê diherike qada Newrozê(The spirit of March 8 flows into the Newroz area)", were hung.

 

PEOPLE ENTERED THE AREA WITH CAVALCADE

 

Young people and women flocked to the area in their local clothes early in the morning. Young people entered the Newroz square with their horses as they do every year.

 

PEOPLE ENTER WITH THE SLOGANS OF ÖCALAN

 

Entering the Newroz square with Amedspor and yellow, red and green flags, young people and women shout slogans such as “Bijî Serok Apo(Long live Apo)”, “Be Serok jiyan nabe(There is no life without Apo)” and “Jin jiyan azadî(Women, Life, Freedom)”.

 

YOUTH ARE WALKING IN THE SQUARE IN A CORTEGE

 

HDP Youth Assembly and Democratic Student Councils (DÖM) marched to the Newroz area with a banner reading "Bı rihê nûjen Kawa, Bir rihê, Kemal Kurkut, ciwanên azad dimeşin(The free youth are walking with the modern spirit of Kava, with the spirit of Kemal Kurkut)". During the march, the young people who often shoute "Bijî Serok Apo" will enter the Newroz square in a cortege.

 

The people of the city continue to flock to the Newroz square, accompanied by zılgıts, applause and slogans.
