'Abdullah Öcalan's voice is needed'

VAN - Van TUHAY-DER Co-chair Edibe Babur stated that the people need the voice of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and called for "resistance" against the isolation.

PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who was brought to Turkey on February 15, 1999 with an international conspiracy, has been held in Imrali Type F High Security Prison for 24 years under heavy isolation conditions. The ban on lawyers, which started on July 27, 2011 on the grounds of "opposition to the weather" and "the coaster is broken", is currently being blocked on the grounds of "disciplinary" penalties. The ban on Abdullah Öcalan, whose family visits were also blocked for the same reasons, turned into a state of not being heard. The family and lawyers of Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım, who are being held in İmralı Prison with Abdullah Öcalan, are also blocked.

Concerns about the health and safety conditions of Abdullah Öcalan, who could not be heard from after his brother Mehmet Öcalan's last intermittent phone call on March 25, 2021, are deepening day by day.

Van Association for Solidarity with the Families of Prisoners and Convicts (TUHAY-DER) Co-chairperson Edibe Babur stated that the Imrali isolation has spread to the whole society and said that the main goal of the peoples should be to end the isolation.

'KEY TO PEACE IS IN IMRALI'

Stating that there is no example of the absolute isolation against the PKK Leader, Babur said: "The situation has turned into torture. The Kurdish people and peoples should oppose this isolation. They also state that they are against the isolation in actions and events from time to time. But it's not enough. Mr. Abdullah Öcalan is not only the leader of the PKK, but also the leader of the entire Kurdish people and the Middle East. All peoples believe that the end of the war and the key to peace are in the hands of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. The key to peace is İmralı. Even if a small voice comes from Imrali, the war will end and the peace process will be rebuilt. Abdullah Öcalan's voice is a need for the people, it is a need for peace.”

'ÖCALAN'S VOICE IS NEEDED'

Stating that the AKP government is implementing a state of isolation in Imrali, which is not seen in the world, Babur said: “This isolation continues not only with the hand of the AKP-MHP, but also with the hand of international states. The dictators are trying to continue the persecution of the Kurdish people with the isolation on Mr. Öcalan. The Kurdish people, the people of Turkey, the peoples who defend peace and democracy need Öcalan's voice. The sound in Imrali will be a light to the future."
