NEWS CENTER - Officials in Shengal, who supported the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign launched by the friends of the Kurdish people, said: "This people was organized with the ideas of Mr. Öcalan. That's why it's our duty to stop the isolation."

 

The "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, political solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign, launched by friends of the Kurds with simultaneous statements made in 74 centers around the world to demand the freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, is growing. Another support for the campaign came from Ezidis and Arabs, who continue to live together in Shengal, which they rebuilt after the 74th Massacre imposed by ISIS, despite Turkey's attacks. People of Shengal, who demanded the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, who was held in severe isolation conditions in İmralı Type F High Security Prison and had not been heard from for 31 months, touched upon the importance of the campaign and underlined that the PKK Leader is the solution to all international problems.

 

FREEDOM OF ABDULLAH ÖCALAN

 

Stating Abdullah Öcalan's freedom is also the recognition of Shengal's autonomy, Shengal Democratic Autonomous Council Board of Directors Co-chairperson Xwedêda Eliyas said: "The freedom of Mr. Öcalan is the freedom of Shengal. The freedom of Mr. Öcalan is the freedom of the Ezidi community and the people of Shengal. It was Mr. Öcalan's students who saved us from the Massacre in 2014. We will not forget those days."

 

'THE KEY OF THE SOLUTION IS MR ÖCALAN'

 

Emphasizing the importance of the campaign launched for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, Eliyas said: “The forces defending human rights remain silent against the severe isolation of Leader Apo. We have not seen rights or law from these institutions so far. Today, a leader who could lead the people with his free and democratic thought is being held in severe isolation conditions. International forces that claim to protect human rights have not done anything against the isolation and are turning a blind eye. We condemn the silence of national forces against isolation. Mr. Öcalan is the will of the oppressed people. The isolation of Mr. Öcalan is a completely unlawful practice. They see Öcalan's ideas as a danger to themselves. As a community that wants peace, we say that Mr. Öcalan's freedom is our freedom. Everyone who wants peace should raise their voice against isolation because the key to the solution is Mr. Öcalan."

 

'IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SAY STOP TO ISOLATION'

 

Stating that Abdullah Öcalan's freedom and Shengal's autonomy cannot be considered separately from each other, Şemê Remo, a member of the Ezidi Free Women's Movement (TAJÊ) said: “Mr. Öcalan's freedom means the freedom of Shengal, Ezidis and Arabs. Today, everyone who is against the Kurds and insists on a deadlock is a part of the isolation carried out in Imrali. For this reason, we think Mr. Öcalan's freedom as necessary. We will continue this campaign until Mr. Öcalan is freed. All components of Shengal supported this campaign because the peaceful people of Shengal are against isolation. We see the autonomy of Shengal and the freedom of the Ezidi community in the freedom of Mr. Öcalan. These people were organized with Mr. Öcalan's ideas and philosophy; therefore, it is our duty to stop to the isolation. Together we can break the isolation and achieve the goal of the campaign."
