AMED - HEDEP Sur District Organization Co-Chair Meliha Cömert, who was blocked by the police and forced to act as a spy, condemned the situation and said: "I continue doing my job."

 

Two plainclothes police officers following Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP) Sûr District Organization Co-chair Meliha Cömert imposed spying on her by saying "We will ask questions". Cömert, who was stopped by the police while leaving his house on Thursday, October 26, on Amed's Farqîn (Silvan) road, said that these people also showed him their police identity cards. The police asked: "Meliha President, can you tell us a little about the activities within the party? We want to talk to you. Let's sit somewhere and drink tea." Comert said that she condemned this situation. Cömert said that the police persistently wanted to establish a dialogue with her, and when she answered her ringing phone at that moment, the police said, “Hang up that phone. We are talking to you".

 

'I CONTINUE DOING MY JOB'

 

Stating that the police persistently followed her to the bus stop, saying "We will get you to work" and noted that the insistence continued at the bus stop as well. Cömert said: “We see and know the pressures on the people. These pressures will not deter us. The pressures have been going on for 40 years and that the Kurdish people have been oppressed. I am the Co-chairperson of the Sur District Organization, these pressures do not mean anything to me. This is an intimidation, a policy of intimidation, but I am here, in Sur. I continue and will continue doing my job.This should be known."
