WAN - Free Press worker Orhan Karaağar was commemorated at his grave in Wan on the 31st anniversary of his murder.

Özgür Gündem newspaper distributor Orhan Karaağar was commemorated at his grave in Wan's Xaçort (Hacıbekir) District on the 31st anniversary of his murder. Orhan Karaağar's family and Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) Co-Chair Serdar Altan, as well as many journalists, People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) executives and Mothers for Peace attended the commemoration organized by (DFG) and Mezopotamya Women Journalists Association (MKG).

'DARK FORCES MURDERED'

Speaking at the commemoration, DFG Wan Representative Adnan Bilen emphasized that they will not forget the murdered Free Press workers. Bilen said: "We commemorate all the Free Press martyrs in the person of Orhan Karaağar. Our friend was murdered 31 years ago by the dark forces. He was murdered by the forces fed and raised by the state. Since then, every time we came to his grave, we demanded that the murderers be found and punished. Just like Musa Anter and Burhan Karadeniz and the Free Press martyrs, Orhan's murderers were hidden by the state. If Orhan Karaağar's murderers had been revealed and tried, Hrant Dink and many journalists would not have been murdered. We will never give up our fight to find and punish the murderers.”

THEIR STRUGGLE CONTINUES'

DFG Co-Chair Serdar Altan said that Orhan Karaağar "fell a martyr while fighting for truth and truth." Altan said: "The perpetrators of our friend have not been found for 31 years. Even though a long time has passed, we are here. Our friends fought with their blood. They created a struggle with their blood. The tradition they established with their blood has survived to this day. Their struggle continues today. If today the Kurdish press tells the truth, reality and truth, this has happened with the sacrifices of our friends at the time with their lives. This is an honor for us. We will continue to fight for them.”

'THEY RAISE THE SOCIETY'

Nizam Karaağar, brother of Orhan Karaağar, who was released 4 months ago after being imprisoned for 30 years, said: "31 years have passed, but our pain is still not over. As the Prophet Muhammad said; 'When you murder one person, you murder all humanity.' As mentioned in Ahmet Arif's poem, none of our friends were defeated in a one-on-one fight. They set up an ambush and murdered them brutally. The reduction they aimed for was a reduction in themselves. If their aim is dark, they are in darkness. We are always here and we embrace it.”
