CFWIJ: 6 women journalists were murdered in December

ANKARA - According to CFWIJ's December 2023 report, there were 76 rights violations against women journalists and 6 journalists were murdered.
 
The Coalition for Women in Journalism (CFWIJ) announced the press freedom status of women journalists for December. In the statement, it was stated that Palestinian women journalists had overcome the most difficult period: "December is the deadliest month for Palestinian women journalists."
 
PRESSURE, MURDER, VIOLENCE
 
In the statement, it was stated that there were 76 violations against women journalists throughout December, and the rights violations they were subjected to were listed as pressure, violence, murder, threat, legal pressure, physical attack and access restriction. 
It was stated that at least 14 journalists faced threats and intimidation in France, Colombia, Canada, Paraguay, Montenegro, Pakistan and Serbia, 7 journalists lost their jobs and 6 journalists were murdered.
 
VENEZUELA IS IN THE FIRST PLACE
 
In the statement, Venezuela ranked first with 13 journalists being denied access to the news, Gaza ranked second with the murder of 6 journalists, and Australia and Montenegro ranked third. 
 
According to the statement, 4 journalists were detained in Türkiye, Mongolia and Pakistan. While journalists were arrested in Belarus, Mongolia and Russia, 2 journalists were punished in Kazakhstan and Iran. 
 
It was stated that JINNEWS reporter Elfazi Toral and Democratic Modernity employee Sema Korkmaz in Turkey were also detained under torture while they were following the news in Istanbul.
