NEWS CENTER - Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen announced that the USA and the UK attacked the city of Hudaydah in the west of the country twice. The US Central Command announced that an attack was made against three Houthi anti-ship missiles that were preparing to be launched.

In the post made on the virtual media account of Al-Mesira TV, which is affiliated with the Houthis, it was stated that the USA and the UK carried out two attacks against the Al-Cebbane region in the city of Hudaydah.

No information was shared about the results of the attack.

A statement was made by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) regarding the attack.

In the statement, it was stated that an attack was made against three Houthi anti-ship missiles directed to the south of the Red Sea and prepared to be launched at around 18.45 local time on January 19, and said: “U.S. forces identified the missiles in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and determined that they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and the U.S. Navy ships in the region. U.S. forces subsequently struck and destroyed the missiles in self-defense. This action will make international waters safe and secure for U.S. Navy vessels and merchant vessels.”

THE FIRST ATTACK WAS ON JANUARY 11

Iran-backed Houthis began to attack commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden in response to Israel's attacks on Gaza. Thereupon, US and UK warplanes hit Houthi targets in the cities of Sanaa, Hudaydah and Taiz on the night of January 11.

Following these attacks in Yemen, US President Joe Biden said: " These targeted strikes are a clear message that the United States and our partners will not tolerate attacks on our personnel or allow hostile actors to imperil freedom of navigation in one of the world’s most critical commercial routes. I will not hesitate to direct further measures to protect our people and the free flow of international commerce as necessary.”

Yemeni Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein Al-Ezzi, who is a Houthi, said: "The United States and Great Britain must be ready to pay a heavy price and bear the heavy consequences of this attack.”

US SHIP WAS SHOT

Following this attack and mutual threats, the US container ship "Gibraltar Eagle" was hit by a ballistic missile fired from the Houthi-controlled region on January 15.

The latest attack by the USA and the UK on the city of Hodeidah came after the US container ship "Gibraltar Eagle" was hit.
