MÊRDÎN - Zeynep Erdem, a political prisoner in Bayburt Type M Closed Prison, was not allowed to attend the funeral of her deceased mother for "security" reasons.

 

Zinê Erdem, mother of political prisoner Zeynep Erdem, who remained in Bayburt Type M Closed Prison and has been imprisoned for 12 years, died yesterday in a hospital in the Qoser (Kızıltepe) district of Mêrdîn, where she was receiving treatment. Erdem, who wanted to attend the condolence held for her mother who was buried in the cemetery in Endewl (Kovalı) District of Dêrîk, submitted a petition to the prison administration.

 

However, the prison administration rejected Erdem's request on the grounds that "security could not be ensured".

 

Erdem could not attend her mother's condolences because she was not allowed.
