SEMSÛR - Detained MA Reporter Mahmut Altıntaş was attacked by 5 police officers while he was being referred to the courthouse. Altıntaş, whose lip burst, was taken to the hospital to get an assault report.

Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter Mahmut Altıntaş, who was detained while reporting news in the morning hours in Yeni Mahalle, central Semsûr, was attacked by 5 police officers while he was being referred to the courthouse.

Altıntaş, who was taken to the Provincial Security Directorate on the grounds that there was a detention warrant against him, was charged with "making propaganda for a terror organization", citing the news he shared on his X (twitter) virtual media account and that of the MA he worked for. From the 24-page police statement, it was claimed that 19 posts made by Altıntaş were crimes. Altıntaş's sharing of his own news about the absolute isolation imposed on PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan on November 11, 2022 was considered a crime. In his statement, Altıntaş drew attention to the isolation imposed on PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan and stated that there had been no news from PKK Leader Ocalan for 35 months, that it was against the Constitution and that he wanted to raise awareness by making news.

KURDISH NEWS WERE INCORRECTLY TRANSLATED

Sharing the news of MA Kurdish and the Kurdish weekly newspaper Xwebûn about Turkey's attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria was declared a crime. Stating that the Turkish translations of the posts made in Kurdish by Google Translate were incorrect, Altıntaş corrected the translations of the posts and stated that the posts were within the framework of freedom of expression. The post that Altıntaş made yesterday, on the 9th anniversary of the liberation of the Northern and Eastern Syrian city of Kobanê, featuring the statue of YPJ fighter Arin Mirkan, is among the posts that are presented as a crime. Altıntaş stated that the statue belongs to a Kurdish woman who lost her life in the fight against ISIS, which the whole world accepts as a terrorist organization, and pointed out that the Kobanê resistance is embraced by the whole world. Altıntaş was also asked about his news posts regarding the Efrîn occupation. Stating that the allegations that Mezopotamya Agency is "connected with the terror organization" are not true, Altıntaş emphasized that the agency carries out public-oriented journalism.

HE WAS BEATEN BY 5 POLICE POLICE

After the police procedures were completed, Altıntaş was transferred to Adıyaman Courthouse. Altıntaş, who refused to bow his head at the entrance of the courthouse, was beaten by 5 police officers who attacked him and his lip was burst. Altıntaş was taken to the hospital to get an assault report upon the request of the lawyers.
