SEMSÛR - Our reporter Mahmut Altıntaş, who was detained at the police station where he went to complaint against the police who beat him, was released on condition of judicial control at the courthouse where he was referred with a demand for arrest.

Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter Mahmut Altıntaş, who was detained while reporting news in Yeni Mahalle, central Semsûr, yesterday morning, was released. While Altıntaş was being transferred to Adıyaman Courthouse after the police procedures were completed yesterday, he was attacked by 5 police officers because he refused to bow his head at the entrance of the courthouse. Altıntaş, who was detained on the allegation of "propagandizing for a terrorist organization", was released on the condition of judicial control and was detained again at the police station last night, where he went to complaint against the police who beat him.

Altıntaş, who was detained last night on the grounds of "resisting the police", was referred to Adıyaman Courthouse after the completion of the security procedures. The Prosecutor's Office was referred to Adıyaman 2nd Criminal Judgeship with a demand for arrest Altıntaş on the grounds of "resisting the police".

THOSE WHO NEED TO BE JUDGED ARE THE POLICE’

Explaining the torture he was subjected to in the judgeship, Altıntaş said that the beating that started in front of the courthouse continued in the corridor. Altıntaş's lawyer, Dilan Güler, stated that no investigation has been opened against the police officers who assaulted him and noted that the people who need to be judged are the police officers. Altıntaş's lawyer, Ergün Yanığ, stated that there was no criminal evidence that would meet the demand for arrest and demanded the release of his client.

WE WILL CONTINUE TO PRACTICE OUR PROFESSION'

Announcing the decision after the break, the court decided to reject the arrest demand and release Altıntaş on the condition that he signs for two days a week. The released Altıntaş was greeted with applause by his colleagues and loved ones in front of the courthouse. Stating that he was detained because he did not bow his head, Altıntaş said: "I did not bow my head and I was beaten. After my release, I was detained again and kept in custody yesterday. I was referred with a demand for arrest. There is an unlawfulness from beginning to end. The belongings I used to carry out my journalism profession were confiscated. Even if they take everything away from us, we will continue to practice our profession. We work with a pen and notebook.”
