DEM Party Co-Chairs: Turn away from this wrong path

WAN - Speaking in Wan, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan said, "You lost on March 31. Return from this wrong path." Co-chair Tülay Hatimoğulları said that they will continue the fight until Abdullah Zeydan's certificate of election is returned.

People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) held its Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting in the building of the Confederation of Public Employees' Unions (KESK) in Wan. After the meeting, they started walking towards the city center in front of Perihan AVM. A statement was made in Feqiyê Teyran Park after the march, in which tens of thousands of people participated and slogans such as "Abdullah Zeydan is our honor", "We will win by resisting" and "Right, law, justice" were chanted.

Addressing the crowd here, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan said: “I also said it at the last Van rally. Van is the heart of the Kurds and Kurdistan. With its honorable stance, Van answered that the Kurds' demands for freedom and democracy cannot be eliminated through oppression, persecution and the trustee system, in Newroz, in the elections and today in this field. Be sure; We feel honored whenever we hear the name of Van. Those who appointed trustees to our will for two terms are now trying to usurp the will of the people of Van with a conspiracy and a political and judicial coup. We will not allow this. As long as you stand here honorably together despite all the pressures, batons, gun rifles and pepper gas, neither their political coups nor their judicial coups will succeed. We promise you that we will protect our municipalities 14 out of 14."

CALL TO YSK: DON'T BE A TOOL'

Emphasizing that no one can usurp the will of the people of Wan, Bakırhan continued his speech as follows: "The calculations made in those dark corridors in Ankara are doomed to be shattered by crashing into the Newroz area and Van Castle in Van. They think that we will tolerate this injustice. We call on them to deliver the will and certificate of election to the people of Van. I want to call out to YSK; Do not be a tool of this political coup. You yourself approved Abdullah Zeydan and said 'you can be a candidate'. Now stand behind your decision. Please do not be under pressure from the government, which has the necessary response from the people of Turkey in this election. I hope and pray that you will not ignore the will of this people.

CALL TO AKP'S ARVAS

Our call is also to the AKP candidate. If you are a Kurd, if you are a human, if you are a believer, if you are a citizen of this land, do not fall for this trick. Do not accept the certificate of election. Tomorrow, you will have to bow your head while walking among the people of Van and on the streets of Van. Do not stand by the AKP-MHP government that will usurp the will of this people. Kurds are honorable. They does not forget those who do good, those who do right, and those who are not used in conspiracy games. If you want to live conscientiously, honorably, with your head held high, in your own region and with your people, do not reach out to the co-presidency, which is the right of President Abdullah and President Neslihan.

The Van election is being talked about all over Turkey. For the first time, Turkey has made a great alliance against this unfair and unlawful decision about Van. We hereby express our gratitude to the political parties, their leaders, democratic mass organizations, labor and professional organizations that embrace Van and stand behind the will of the people of Van. Rest assured, the people of Turkey, the workers, the oppressed, for the first time, you are in strong solidarity with the people of Van. Don't worry, you are not alone. The workers and the poor all over Turkey are with you. Once again, I call out to the AKP government; As long as you usurp the will of this people, you are doomed to lose. You lost on March 31. Take this wrong turn. Your miscalculations have vanished here today, just like yesterday.”

'WE ARE HERE WITH THE PEOPLE OF VAN'

Speaking afterwards, DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları said: “As we speak here, we are addressing not only you but also the 85 million people living in Turkey. YSK, which today approved the candidacy of our brother Abdullah Zeydan, our president, reports a problem with his candidacy at 5 minutes to 17.00 pm on Friday, 48 hours before the elections, and this problem is forwarded to the AKP and the AKP's candidate before it is forwarded to us, the DEM Party. While the elections are taking place, they are conspiring against us. However, you will foil their plot. We call out to YSK; The Provincial Election Board has taken this decision with a 2 to 1 vote, that is, with one comment. This morning, our valuable lawyers and party officials carried out a study and submitted a very broad objection to the YSK. Until this objection is officially concluded, until our objection is accepted, DEM Party will continue to put forward the democratic struggle in the strongest way together with our people, and will continue this struggle until Abdullah is given the certificate of election to the president. We held our MYK meeting here in Van today. We will be in Van and we will carry out this struggle together with the people of Van."
