NEWS CENTER - HDP Former Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş's defense in the Kobanê Case was compiled into a book under the name "Dignified Life Case".

Former Co-Chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtaş, one of the names in the Kobanê Case file, in which 108 people, 24 of whom were imprisoned, were tried due to the protests against ISIS's attacks on Kobanê on 6-8 October 2014, was heard in court. His defense on the merits was published in a book.

Readers will be able to access the book, published under the name " Dignified Life Case ", free of charge.

The book will be published today at 19.00 pm at https://demirtasinfo.com/tr.

Selahattin Demirtaş's defense on the merits at the Ankara 22nd High Criminal Court, which heard the case, lasted 8 days.

Demirtaş, who was connected to the hearing of the case on December 25, 2023, in Edirne Type F Prison, via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBIS), said in his defense: "I have been a prisoner for 7 years, but this is the first time I have been given the right to defend myself. So far, I have spoken out in some investigations for different reasons. This is my first time defending directly. I am not making my defense to your delegation. Because you are a part of these attacks. But we defend our people and history. This case filed against us is political, so I will sometimes make a political defense. This is revenge, a political cause. You took prisoners for your own interests. Today, the children of this country are being killed in this war. We feel the pain of those children and share their grief."

Demirtaş, who defended himself continuously for 5 days from December 25 to December 29, lost his father on December 31, when the hearings were suspended.

HE DEDICATED TO HIS FATHER

Demirtaş, who did not apply for permission from the Ministry of Justice and did not attend his father's funeral in order to protest his situation as a political prisoner, dedicated his defense, which started on January 2 and continued until January 4, to his father.

In his defense, Demirtaş said: "There is a pure and unadulterated lie in this conspiracy case. We have been trying to tell the lie by telling the truth for years. We know that lies cannot be taken back. We know that they take masochistic pleasure in telling this lie. We will maintain our stance by making use of our pain without bowing down. We will expose historical lies once again and continue our conversation."

PARMAKSIZ'S DEFENSE ALSO TURNED INTO A BOOK

The defenses in court of HDP's Central Executive Board (MYK) Member at the time, Bülent Parmaksız, who was tried in detention within the scope of the same file, were also previously compiled into a book under the name "ISIS, Kobani and Socialists".

The decision hearing of the Kobanê Case will be held on April 17.
