AMED - A lawsuit was filed against lawyer Necat Çiçek on the charge of "providing legal services to those who are prosecuted for crimes related to the organization", citing the allegations of confessor Ümit Akbıyık.

Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office also prepared an indictment against a lawyer based on the allegations of confessing witness Ümit Akbıyık. An indictment was filed against lawyer Necat Çiçek, who was among those detained on April 25, 2023, with a request for up to 15 years in prison for "being a member of a terrorist organization". Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court accepted the indictment. The first hearing will be held on May 21.

NOTHING IN AKBIYIK'S CHART!

The majority of the indictment consisted of the allegations of confessor Ümit Akbıyık, who had previously made false statements about hundreds of people. Akbıyık claimed that, TMMOB, KESK, DİSK and affiliated unions, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), media organizations, institutions providing Kurdish education, cultural and artistic institutions and cooperatives are all "structures established and acting under the instructions of a terrorist organization". A diagram regarding the allegations in question was also included in the indictment.

Akbıyık noted that the campaign carried out by the Human Rights Association (İHD) demanding the release and treatment of seriously ill prisoners in prisons was carried out "on the instructions of a terrorist organization". Akbıyık also claimed that İHD, Federation of Detainee and Convict Families Legal Solidarity Associations (TUHAD-FED), Association for Assistance with Detainee Families (TUAY-DER), Lawyers for Freedom Association (ÖHD) were involved in the "external coordination of the prison".

Akbıyık claimed that many lawyers were "taking part in the external coordination of a terrorist organization" and claimed that ÖHD lawyer Necat Çiçek was among these lawyers.

PRESS RELEASE ACCUSE

Çiçek's participation in the statement about Turkey's use of chemical weapons in military operations and the death of journalist Nagihan Akarsel, who was murdered in the Federated Kurdistan Region, was described as "terrorist organization activity".

In the indictment, it was argued that Çiçek "was one of the lawyers involved in the external coordination of the prison". It was also claimed that Çiçek "provided legal services to those who were prosecuted for crimes related to a terrorist organization, upon the instructions of the members of a terrorist organization."
