'Cause of the fire is not husk but DEDAŞ'

AMED - Citizens stated that the fire disaster started not because of burning husk but because of the high voltage electricity supply after the blackout, and that DEDAŞ is responsible.

The toll of the fire that broke out last night between Amed's (Diyarbakır-Kurdistan) Çınar district and Mêrdîn's (Mardin-Kurdistan) Şemrex (Mazıdağı) district is getting worse as the hours pass. Although the statement made by Diyarbakır Governorship showed stubble fires as the source of the fire, citizens state that this statement is not correct.

Citizens stated that it was caused by the spark caused by the energy transmission cables that were not renewed by Dicle Electricity Distribution Inc. (DEDAŞ), which provides high voltage electricity to the transformers, hitting each other under the influence of the wind.

VOLTAGE HAS BEEN INCREASED

Citizen Mustafa Çelebioğlu said that the fire started yesterday evening with a fire caused by electricity.

Pointing out that the fire that broke out around the transformer between the Tobinî neighborhoods of Çınar and the Kelekê neighborhoods of Şemrex district spread under the influence of the wind, “At first we extinguished the fire, then when the wind came again, it spread to new areas. At least 2 thousand animals died due to the fire. Thousands of animals are dying right now" Çelebioğlu said.

Stating that Abdurrahman and Ubeydullah Buğdaycı from the neighborhood lost their lives, Çelebioğlu said: “According to the information we received, DEDAŞ suddenly increased the electricity voltage in the transformer. That's why the fire broke out. 150 crops of our wheat were destroyed in the fire."

ELECTRIC SPARK CAUSED THE FIRE

Stating that the statements that the fire was caused by stubble burning do not reflect the truth, Çelebioğlu said: “The fire broke out due to high electrical voltage. Why did you suddenly give high energy? Since 500 voltage was suddenly applied to the transformer, which was not energized, the wires hit each other and created sparks, and those sparks fell into the stubble. This is how the fire started."

Memduh Eren also stated that they saw the fire caused by the sparks and they started to extinguish it. Stating that the fire started to spread due to the effect of the wind, Eren said that the claims of stubble and illegal electricity were unfounded.

Eren said that the electricity was cut off around 12:00 noon yesterday and came back around 20:00-21:00 pm in the evening, and that the fire broke out after the electricity was restored.
