AMED - 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing in Amed, has not been found for 18 days. The search for Güran continues.

The search for 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21 in Çulî neighborhood of Rezan (Bağlar) district of Amed (Diyarbakır), continues. Following a tip-off yesterday, Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) teams continued to search for Güran in Eğertutmaz Creek, 5 kilometers away from the neighborhood where she disappeared. No trace of Güran was found despite the search conducted by the Underwater Search teams in the creek. The search for Güran continues.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 21, Narin Güran (8) left the Quran course she was attending in Çulî neighborhood of Rezan district in Amed. Güran left with her friends and was not heard from again. Upon her family's notification, a search operation was launched for Güran.  Gendarmerie and police special operations teams, Gendarmerie Criminal Investigation Teams (JASAT), Intelligence Branch Directorate, Dog Tracking Team and Underwater Search and Rescue Team, health, AFAD, Amed Metropolitan Municipality Underwater Search teams and search and rescue teams from district municipalities took action to find Güran.

Rescue teams repeatedly searched houses and fields in the rural neighborhood. A special team sent from Ankara was also involved in the search efforts with approximately 2,000 personnel. As part of the investigation launched by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, hundreds of people living in the rural neighborhood were interviewed. Narin's older brother E.G. (18) was detained because he had a bite on his arm. E.G. was sent to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute, but was released after it could not be determined whether the bite on his arm belonged to Narin or not.

Güran's uncle and neighborhood mukhtar Salim Güran, who was detained within the scope of the investigation expanded by the prosecutor's office, was detained on September 2. DNA samples taken from his car were found to match the DNA samples on Narin's clothes. Uncle Güran was arrested on charges of “willing murder” and “deprivation of liberty” and sent to prison.
