ANKARA - Co-chair of KONGRA-GEL Remzi Kartal said that the AKP-MHP statements could be a “dangerous plan” and added: “Unless there is a direct meeting with Leader Apo and his voice is heard, unilateral statements are worthless.”

Discussions on the “new process” for the solution of the Kurdish issue remain on the agenda. In his group meeting yesterday, Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chair Devlet Bahçeli acknowledged the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and called on him to speak at the People’s Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) group meeting in the Parliament. Bahçeli stipulated the “liquidation of the organization” as a condition for the “right to hope”, for which the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe said “take the necessary measures”.

Speaking afterwards, Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chair Özgür Özel stated that he “raised his hand” and said: “I offer the Kurds to become the owners of the state of the Republic of Turkey.”

“The interlocutor for peace in the Middle East and Turkey is Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, who is under absolute isolation in İmralı. The place for the solution of the Kurdish issue is the Parliament. We are ready to take the initiative for an honorable peace” DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları said.

Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair and President Tayyip Erdoğan also said on his X virtual media account: “We hope that the historical window of opportunity opened by the People's Alliance will not be sacrificed to personal calculations. As the political institution, Parliament, civil society, press, academia and the nation as a whole, we want to build a Turkey without terrorism and violence.”

KARTAL: A CALL WITHOUT SERIOUSNESS

KONGRA-GEL Co-Chair Remzi Kartal evaluated Bahçeli's statements and the “new process” discussions on the agenda. Drawing attention to Abdullah Öcalan's readiness to undertake a mission for a solution at all times, Kartal described Bahçeli's call to “liquidate the organization” as “a call without seriousness”.

“There is no seriousness in making such a call to the Leader of the Kurds, who has spent his entire life struggling for the democratization of Turkey on the basis of the solution of the Kurdish issue and for the peoples of Turkey to achieve a democratic, free and equal system,” Kartal said.

'ONE-SIDED DISCOURSES HAVE NO VALUE'

Pointing out that the statements are one-sided, “The government, which is waging the war against the Kurds at the level of genocide with all its intensity, is making these statements. However, in 3 days the 43rd month of the isolation in İmralı will be completed. Unless there is a direct meeting with Leader Apo, unless his voice is heard directly, one-sided statements have no value,” he said.

'AKP-MHP GOVERNMENT STUCK'

“The AKP-MHP government is stuck,” Kartal said, recalling the Collapse Plan that was put into effect in 2014 with the decisions of the National Security Council. “There has been a very heavy process in 10 years and everything was done to get results. The system was changed in Turkey. The plan they had prepared to get results was thwarted. On the contrary, the Turkish state system is heading for a collapse. Militarily it has not achieved results, politically there is a serious crisis and there is a huge economic collapse. The system has been handed over to the mafia and gangs. In that respect, there is a serious squeeze. There is a search for a way out of this jam. But these searches cannot be done with traps, tricks and games. These searches should be open and bilateral dialog. At the moment there is a one-sided verbal game. It is not possible to take part in this.”

“If there really is a dialogue-oriented search, the doors of İmralı should be opened immediately,” Kartal adds, “Without the voice of Leader of the Kurds Mr. Abdullah Öcalan being heard, these words are of no value.”

'IT COULD BE A DANGEROUS PLAN'

Stating that there may be a “dangerous plan” behind the statements, Kartal said: “Our people must be on their toes. Our people must be on their feet to break the isolation of Leader Apo and for his freedom. Everyone must be in an extremely anxious and prepared position in this regard, they should be on their feet. There should be no room for any carelessness, any slackness, any complacency. Because those who carry out this policy, those who set up this plan, also want to create complacency among the people.”

“Meeting the calls with great thanks and satisfaction is simply a blunder. There is an impression that the calls are creating complacency instead,” Kartal said and continued as follows: “If there is to be a process, a process in which Leader Apo can take part as the chief negotiator can be taken into consideration. Everyone must approach on this basis. Any other approach is a game, a plot, a trap. This is how it should be called.”
