NEWS CENTER - Mexmûr people, who have been on vigil for 1 and a half years for the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, emphasised that "our struggle will continue until Abdullah Öcalan regains his physical freedom".

The isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali Type F High Security Closed Prison continues. On 23 October, Abdullah Öcalan met with his nephew Ömer Öcalan and pointed out that the isolation continues. On 28 December, DEM Party MPs Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan held a meeting with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı Island Prison.

However, despite the two meetings, the isolation has not been lifted. The global campaign "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, democratic solution to the Kurdish issue" continues in its second year.

The vigil launched on 20 July 2023 in Makhmour Refugee Camp to break the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan and ensure his physical freedom has left behind a year and a half.

Young people who took over and continued the watch made evaluations.

'WE MUST BREAK ISOLATION WITH SPIRIT OF YOUTH'

Yasemin İşlek stated that the struggle for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan must be increased and concrete steps must be taken. "We state that they cannot break the will of the Kurdish people with isolation and that they cannot make the Kurdish people give up this cause. As Rêber (Leader) Apo's students and young women, we took this action. On this occasion, we will strengthen and glorify the spirit of free women created by Leader Apo. The leader says, 'We started young, we will succeed young.' We should act based on this promise. We must embrace the pioneering spirit given to the youth and play the pioneering role accordingly.  We must unite with the struggle in İmralı and strengthen our actions. We call on all women and youth to strengthen their struggle against isolation. We can grow our struggle with the philosophy of 'Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)' created by him."

'WE WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES'

Women should be in the fields the most to break the isolation said Özlem Nêrwehî and added: "Leader Apo is held under a heavy isolation. He was given a disciplinary punishment after the last meeting. We, as young women, joined the vigil to break the isolation and ensure the physical freedom of Leader Apo. We are ready to do whatever it takes for this. We call on young women to take part in the protests and to fight harder for this."

'WE WILL FULFIL OUR RESPONSIBILITY'

Pınar Bayar stated that the youth will be in the fields until Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom is ensured and continued: "The aim of the isolation is to destroy Leader Apo physically. They also want to keep his thoughts under isolation. We will continue our protests to end the isolation and to ensure the physical freedom of Leader Apo. We invite women not to remain silent against this isolation.  We will continue our struggle until Abdullah Öcalan is physically liberated. We will fulfil our responsibility in this process."
