MANİSA - 70 miners protesting in Soma district of Manisa were detained.

In Soma district of Manisa, workers from the Independent Mine Workers Union (Bağımsız Maden İş), who were laid off by FERNAS Mining, started a protest in front of the mine. The protest, which was supported by the employees, was attacked by the gendarmerie last night. The gendarmerie detained at least 70 miners, including Independent Mine Workers Union President Gökay Çakır and union executives.

Making a statement on its virtual media account about the detentions, Independent Mine Labor said: “Those who should be detained are not being detained, we are. It is always the workers who are guilty, never the boss. At least 70 miners, including our general president Gökay Çakır, were detained. We will come again, we will never be afraid, we will never retreat. Speak up, let's win together!”
