DEM Party's decision to take uninterrupted action against usurpation of will

ANKARA - DEM Party Group Deputy ChairGülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit announced that they will start a continuous action in front of all municipalities against the appointment of a trustee to Colemêrg Municipality.

The Central Executive Board (MYK) of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) held an extraordinary meeting at the party's headquarters upon the appointment of a trustee to Colemêrg (Hakkari) Municipality. Parliamentary Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit held a press conference about the meeting.

Emphasizing that the decision to appoint trustees is a political decision, Koçyiğit emphasized that the judiciary has become the apparatus of politics. "Dismissal, usurpation of will, and coup against democracy by creating a legal cover are among the most terrible crimes committed by this government in this century" Koçyiğit said.

Koçyiğit pointed out that they are trying to manipulate the society through perception operations and said: “Turkey is governed by a party that considers itself superior to the constitution. Turkey is governed by a government that holds elections whenever it wants and appoints trustees to the municipality whenever it wants. But there is something it didn't take into account. It is the fact that the people received democracy through struggle."

'IT IS THE LAW OF THE EMERGENCY'

Koçyiğit said, "The Kurdish people swept away the coupist mentality and trustees in the elections and threw them into the wastebasket" She continued: "With the trustees' decision, the government started to take revenge on our municipalities for the defeat in the March 31 elections. Although our Co-Mayor, Mr. Abdullah Zeydan, who was first elected in Van, received his legal rights, they set a trap and did not give him his certificate of registration after he was elected. The people of Van claimed their will and took back what already belonged to them."

Underlining that appointing a trustee is a clear attack on the will of the people, Koçyiğit said: “This is the state of emergency law. The will usurpation they brought with the Decree Law and the political coups are still used today as a policy of intimidating the Kurds. In other words, the state of emergency imposed on Kurds never ends, the state of emergency imposed on Kurds never ends. The law of exception applied to Kurds never ends in this country. The more we insist on democratic politics, the more the government tries to dissuade us from this insistence. The nonsense of normalization and softening has been going on for days. Is this normalization? Is this the first step you take for a democratic constitution? The AKP-MHP government's claim to normalization has collapsed.

Claims of a new constitution have been buried under the rubble of the trustee, and it has become clear once again that the claim of a new constitution and normalization does not include the Kurds. Our friends have rolled up their sleeves and are working hard to repair the damage caused by the trustees by living in pleasure and luxury. We all know very well that the trustee policy has already gone bankrupt and that the trustees have left no legacy other than bribery, corruption, cronyism and hostility towards Kurds."

IT WAS DONE TO ALL DEMOCRACY FORCES

Koçyiğit continued as follows: "This coup was made against all democratic forces and the freedom to choose and be elected, which humanity gained through great struggles centuries ago. All democratic public opinion should show their highest reaction on this issue. From political parties to civil society, intellectuals and artists, everyone whose heart is in favor of democracy should raise their voice against this trustee unlawfulness. It must show that it supports the will of the people of Hakkari. If we allow them to take back what they lost in the March 31 elections through trustees; It is not difficult to predict where the wave of attacks and extortions that started in Hakkari will end."

DECISION FOR UNINTERRUPTED ACTION

Koçyiğit also shared some of the decisions taken at the MYK meeting. Koçyiğit stated the following: "I am announcing that we will start actions in front of all our municipalities to defend uninterrupted democracy, to defend the will of the people and to defend our municipalities against this trustee policy that has become an apparatus of the regime. We invite all our people, democratic mass organizations, and everyone with conscience to take part in these actions and stand by us.

CO-CHAIRS WILL GO TO HAKKARI

Again, our Co-chair (Hatimoğulları) has a series of programs in Istanbul today. She will go to Hakkari tomorrow. Again, DBP Co-Chairs (Keskin Bayındır and Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar) departed for Hakkari with a delegation. We expect them to reach Hakkari today. Apart from that, today, actions and events that will reveal our democratic reactions are organized by district organizations from all over Turkey and everywhere in the region. A meeting will be held today at 18.00 pm in Şişhane, Istanbul. Our Co-Chair, Ms. Tülay Hatimoğlulları, will also attend the statement. I would like to call on the constituents of the Labor and Freedom Alliance and the entire democratic opposition to join this statement.
