URFA - Emine Şenyaşar whose sons were murdered right in front of her eyes, said: "They left no one to celebrate my mother's day. My Celal and Adil used to celebrate my mother's day. They took them from me. They locked my Fadıl in a prison."
Every year the second Sunday of May is celebrated as the Mother's Day. Thinking of Mother's Day in Turkey, Saturday Mother's whose children were murdered by unknown assailants come to mind, or Peace Mothers whose children were killed in clashes. Another mother on the agenda these days is Emine Şenyaşar.
SHE WITNESSED THE MASSACRE
Ten days before the general elections held on June 24, 2018, Emine Şenyaşar's children were attacked by the bodyguards and relatives of AKP Urfa Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız when they criticized the AKP members who visited their workplace. Emine Şenyaşar's two sons and husband were killed in the attacks that started in their workplace and continued at the hospital and Emine Şenyaşar was there to witness all. Her other son Fadıl Şenyaşar who was trying to protect himself and his family from the attacks was sentenced to 37 years and 9 months in prison.
JUSTICE WATCH
Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar who survived the attack started a sit in on September 10, 2019 to protest the investigation not being carried out effectively. The family were detained a bunch of times staging the sit in while Peace Mothers and women's organizations came to visit the 'Justice Watch' in solidarity.
I MISS MY CHILDREN
Mother Şenyaşar will have a hard time on the Mother Day's, losing 3 sons in an attack they were the victims of. Pointing out that her sons used to celebrate her mother's day, Şenyaşar told how much she misses her children and said: "They left no one to celebrate my mother's day. My Celal and Adil used to celebrate my mother's day. They took them from me. They locked my Fadıl in a prison. I can't go through these days without you. Come back from where you're resting and hug me. These tyrants took you from me. Mother's Day is now a day of suffering for me."
Underlining that she will not give up from her struggle to demand justice, Şenyaşar said: "I am now staging the sit in at my house due to the lock down. Release my son from prison. End this tyranny. What kind of a justice is this? They have hidden the hospital records. Those who killed my sons are walking freely. Whay? We go to the prosecutor to speak to him and he shows us the door. My sons were attacked in their workplace. My other son has been in prison for the last 3 years. Who killed my children?"
