NEWS CENTER - Stating that the Iraqi Army's attacks on Shengal were provocative attempts, YBŞ pointed out that the attacks were linked to the attacks of the KDP and Turkey.
On April 17, when the operation against the Federated Kurdistan Region started by the AKP-KDP partnership, the Iraqi Army launched attacks against Ezîdxan Asayish in Shengal. The attacks, which started before the Êzidîs' holy festival Çarşema Sor, have been continuing for days with intense clashes. Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) Command made a written statement regarding the attacks of the Iraqi Army and noted that the attacks were attempts of provocation.
PRESSURE OF TURKEY AND THE KDP
Stating that the attacks are provocative, YBŞ said, “By capturing our Iraqi army friends, they wanted to take away the places we liberated from ISIS gangs with our blood. Despite the attack of the Iraqi that is usurping our gains, our friends refrained from being provoked. Despite this stance, the Iraqi army still continues the provocation. Our attitude so far has been based on solutions and not being provoked. For this reason, we do consider this attack of the Iraqi army is linked to the attacks of the KDP and the genocidal and invading Turkish state. These attacks of the Iraqi army are due to the pressures of the KDP and the invading Turkish state. With these attacks, they want to make us and our people accept slavery again. They want to occupy our lands, to make slaves of our people. A section from inside Iraq is following the instructions of the Turkish state and the KDP. With this, they want to destroy our political will just like they did in 2014. We, who are a part of Iraq, have acted together with Iraq until now. Together with Iraq, we can eliminate the attacks on Iraqi territory. However, the latest attack against us and our people on the holiday of our people means the destruction of our values.
'WE WILL RESIST AGAINST THESE ATTACKS'
Pointing out that the attacks have increased since October 9, 2020, when the "Shengal Agreement" was signed between Baghdad and Hewler, the statement said, "They tried to trample on our achievements. This aggressive attitude of the Iraqi army forces us to respond. One of our comrades was martyred in these attacks, two of our comrades were injured. We were always open for dialogue to resolve the issue regarding the recent attacks. Regardless of the level of problems, we believe that they will be resolved through dialogue. As YBŞ and YJŞ, we lost hundreds of heroic commanders and warriors for the liberation and defense of these lands. We protected our people and our lands under the most severe conditions. We fought a relentless war against the barbarian ISIS gangs and have never left our positions until now. From now on, we will resist any kind of attack. We promised our heroic martyrs and patriotic people that we will defend this ancient land until the last drop of our blood.
