HAKKARI - Kudret Aksu, mother of Süleyman Aksu, who lost his life in the Suruç Massacre, wants the perpetrators to be found while grieving at the grave of his son, whom she has been visiting for 7 years come rain or shine.

7 years have passed since the bomb attack carried out by ISIS against young people who gathered in the Amara Cultural Center in Suruç district of Urfa on July 20, 2015 to bring toys to the children in the northern and eastern Syrian city of Kobanê. 33 people lost their lives in the attack, and more than 100 people were injured. One of the young people who lost their lives in the massacre was Süleyman Aksu.

"HE COULDN'T REALIZE HIS DREAMS"

Born in Hakkari's Yüksekova district in 1990, Aksu graduated from Çukurova University, Department of English Language Teaching. Aksu, who was a teacher, set off from Yüksekova to Urfa for the children of Kobanê on Ramadan feast in 2015. However, Aksu couldn't realize his dream due to the bomb attack.

HIS GRAVE WAS DESTROYED 7 TIMES

The body of Aksu, who lost his life in the bomb attack, was laid to rest. His grave was destroyed 7 times in 7 years. A criminal complaint was filed against the perpetrators of the attacks on Aksu's grave on April 25, 2019, on the grounds of "insulting the memory of the person" and "damaging places of worship and cemeteries". However, despite the time that has passed, there has been no development yet regarding the police or soldiers who destroyed the cemetery.

MOTHER'S ONLY REQUEST IS WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE MUST BE BROUGHT BEFORE A JUDGE

The murder of Süleyman and the destruction of the his grave affected Kudret Aksu the most in the family. The only demand of mother Aksu, who has been waiting and grieving at the grave for a long time, is to find the perpetrators. Aksu said: "Those who murdered my son and those who are responsible for this massacre should be punished. The judiciary hasn't taken a step for years. If there is really justice in Turkey, they should bring the murderer of my 33 children before court and try them. The justice in the country was buried under the ground when my 33 children are murdered and their cases are closed."

'SHE WAITS FOR JUSTICE AT HER SON'S GRAVE

Stating that she waits for justice at the grave of her son and she visits him every day come rain or shine, Aksu said: " I feel uncomfortable when I don't come to his grave. I can't sleep for fear that they will destroy my son's grave again. I visit his grave early in the morning and I sit here until noon. I keep watch here so that they do not destroy my son's grave. I also keep watch for other graves for them not to be destroyed. After the recent destruction, the only solution I could find was to build a wall around his grave. When I go home in the evenings, I can't sleep. I wonder if they attacked my son's grave again until the morning. Those children wanted to go to Kobanê to make children happy. They set out with the joy and happiness of bringing pens, notebooks and books to the children. While we were waiting for my son to come back with the same happeness, they sent us his body."
