Imprisoned journalist Ren resisted strip search, battered

NEWS CENTER- Lawyer Gülistan Ataş stated that a strip search was imposed on JINNEWS reporter Derya Ren, whom she visited in prison, and that she was beaten by 5 guards because she resisted the strip search.
 
JINNEWS reporters Habibe Eren and Öznur Değer, Mesopotamia Agency (MA) Editor-in-Chief Diren Yurtsever, MA reporters Berivan Altan, Deniz Nazlım, Selman Güzelyüz, Zemo Ağgöz, Hakan Yalçın, Emrullah Acar, Ceylan Şahinli and journalist Mehmet Günhan was detained with raids on their homes within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Derya Ren, who was taken into custody as part of a different investigation the same day, was arrested and sent to prison on the grounds that the decision about her case was finalised.
 
REN RESISTED STRIP SEARCH, BATTERED
 
Lawyer Gülistan Ataş, who visited with Ren today, stated that while Ren was being taken to the prison, the guards imposed a strip search on her, but Ren resisted and refused to accept this. Noting that 5 guards grabbed Ren by the hair and battered her, Ataş said that Ren later went to the infirmary, but the doctor did not examine her sufficiently.
 
Ataş will file a criminal complaint against 5 guards.
