ISTANBUL - Stating that President Erdogan of the AKP returned empty-handed from the NATO Summit, Journalist Kurdo Baksi said: "An attack could be carried out in Northern and Eastern Syria before the local elections."
The NATO Summit held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, on July11-12, was marked by anti-Kurdish opposition through Sweden's membership. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who went to the summit with hostility to Kurds in his briefcase, pointed to the parliament on the way back for Sweden's NATO membership, which he opposes. Journalist Kurdo Baksi, who lives in Sweden, who closely followed the Vilnius Summit, stated that Erdoğan was pursuing a policy of blackmail at the NATO meeting and said that he returned empty-handed.
US PRESSURE ON SWEDEN
Stating that the United States of America (USA) forced Sweden to join NATO through Russia's repression policies, Baksi said: "NATO's sphere of influence was intended to be expanded with this. This policy is related to China because they are afraid of China, they are trying to surround themselves in some way. There are even those who think that Australia and New Zealand can become members of NATO because if the countries of Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan work the way NATO wants or become members, this may cause big problems for China in the future."
NATO'S FEAR OF CHINA-RUSSIA
Stating that the rapprochement between China and Russia has become NATO's fear, Baksi said: "For this reason, it allows Turkey to break the embargoes against Russia. Türkiye does not apply any embargo against Russia. NATO is of the opinion that if they are tough on Turkey, it will get closer to China and Russia. NATO strives to be the largest security military organization in the world. That's why it overlooks many things. Of course, this is a dangerous undertaking, because a single power controlling everything in the world will bring many problems in the future."
'ERDOĞAN RETURNED EMPTY HAND'
Expressing that Erdogan returned empty-handed from the summit, Baksi said: "Turkey achieved more gains at the previous NATO Summit held in Madrid on June 28, 2022. Turkey had given up on the conditions that Sweden had previously put before it to give approval. After the NATO Vilnius Summit, the Kurds were able to return to their old settings. At the NATO Vilnius Summit, it was revealed that Erdoğan is a blackmailer in the international arena. What else would Sweden do? Turkey is a non-democratic country and there is a dictatorial, despotic government in the administration. In addition, we are talking about a government whose parliament does not work, its court does not work, and there is no human rights.”
Stating that Sweden's NATO membership has not been finalized, Baksi said: "Erdogan shook hands, but he says, 'If America has a congress to sell F 16s, we have a parliament too'. We don't know what will happen until October 1st. At the moment, we can say that Erdogan opened the door for Sweden to join NATO. But it was not signed yet. As you know, all parliaments of countries in NATO have to take decisions. Currently, both the Hungarian and Turkish parliaments have not voted. Therefore, we cannot say that it is a complete entry. Of course, Erdoğan will use his veto until the last minute, as he is penniless and unarmed.”
THE EXTRADITION OF THE KURDS IS NOT TALKED
Stating that there is no talk of the extradition of Kurds targeted by Erdogan in Sweden, Baksi said: "The marches are free for Kurds in Sweden, so is the issue of flags, anyone can fly any flag they want. It will never be a problem for the Kurds to unfurl the PKK flag and march. In other words, the Kurds will continue their march as they wish. Kurdish news will continue to be read on Swedish state radio. There will be no difficulties for the Kurds here. From now on, the Kurds need to work in line with their own organization and make new projects with Kurdish-friendly MPs in the parliament."
ATTACK PLANS ON ROJAVA
Adding that Turkey's threats of attacks against Northern and Eastern Syria after the summit depend on the relationship between Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Baksi said: “Erdoğan may have an invasion operation plan in Rojava before the local elections. But I do not believe that international powers, namely America and Russia, will allow it. But for Erdoğan, when the money ran out and the election approached, fighting on the territory of Kurdistan became a vital project for him.”
