'THE QUESTIONING AND ENLIGHTENING OF PERSPECTIVE '
The commemoration started with a moment of silence and carnations were left on Akarsel's grave. Green Left Party Amed MP Adalet Kaya stated that Akarsel always told them about completely different types of resistance with her naive personality and calm approach. We are here on the first anniversary of Nagihan's murder. Every word she shared with us and all our female friends, after filtering it through her inquiring, enlightened mind, expressed her resistance. She had a questioning and enlightened perspective on the entire male-dominated world and its violent policies. It was very special for all of us. She believed that every woman's story was very valuable."
'WE WILL NOT GIVE UP ON THE PATH AKARSEL PAVED'
Stating that they will fight until the end for the path of freedom opened by Akarsel to women, Kaya concluded his words as follows: "Akarsel was murdered in a very terrible way in the city of Suleymaniye, where she was working on Women's Libraries. Even though a year has passed, we do not know who the perpetrators actually are, neither the instigators nor the shooters. But we will never give up our struggle and walk the bright path that Akarsel opened for us.”
Akarsel was also commemorated in Mardin, Adana, Mersin and İzmir.
