ISTANBUL - Stating that 55 living facilities of Turkey were targeted in Northern and Eastern Syria, journalist Vecih Cuzdan said: "Türkiye cannot demand peace against the attacks on Gaza while the civilian infrastructure in Rojava is being attacked."
Northern and Eastern Syria, which Turkey has been targeting for years, has been under intense attack since October 4. In the attacks, which started after Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan targeted them, schools, hospitals and infrastructures of the region, especially civilian settlements, were bombed. While Turkey's attacks continued, the war between Israel and Palestine broke out once again. 471 civilians were killed in the bombardment of a hospital in Gaza by Israel, which has been continuing its attacks against Palestine since October 7. Turkey's reaction to this attack, which caused a reaction from the world public opinion and targeted civilians in Northern and Eastern Syria, attracted attention.
Evaluating the attacks of Turkey, which targets civilians in Northern and Eastern Syria but condemns Israel for its attacks on Palestine, journalist Vecih Cuzdan said that this situation is a contradiction.

55 VITAL FACILITIES WERE TARGETED
Stating that Turkey's air strikes against Northern and Eastern Syria have been continuing for a long time, Cuzdan said that in these attacks, various civilian and military officials were targeted with Armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones) and assassinations. Reminding that the region was attack by UAVs(Drones) and warplanes after Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's statement, "All kinds of civilian infrastructure and superstructure are our legitimate target," Cuzdan said that according to the data of the London-based Human Rights Observatory, 55 vital facilities were targeted in approximately 75 air strikes, and he stated that 45 people lost their lives due to these attacks.
PALESTINE AND ROJAVA CONTRADICTION
Stating that Turkey, which called for peace in the Israeli-Palestinian war, fell into a contradictory position with the attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria, Cuzdan said: “Turkey's attitude is absolutely unconvincing. While what the AKP government wants to do now is a move to end the political will in Northern and Eastern Syria, they found themselves in a position where they increased their focus on what is happening in Palestine and Israel. This does not change the absurdity and contradiction of the situation. So, while the Turkish state is attacking the civilian infrastructure and superstructure in Rojava, the state cannot simultaneously stand against Israel's attacks on Gaza and demand peace."
TURKEY'S TARGET AND ISIS THREAT
Emphasizing that the main goal of the government is the elimination of the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria, Cuzdan said: "The aim of the attacks on service institutions and areas where civilians are located is to leave no living space for the people. Türkiye aims to eliminate the political will in the region. There is an ISIS threat in the region. ISIS members are still staying in those camps. No country accepts any responsibility for the fate of these jihadists, who are its citizens and this uncertainty has been left in the hands of the Kurdish authorities in the Autonomous Administration."
HYPOCRISY OF WESTERN COUNTRIES
Stating that the Kurds gained a victory by paying great prices in the fight against ISIS, Cuzdan continued his words as follows: “Kurdish forces both liberated those cities and built a new life there. The struggle of the Kurds has been celebrated by many western countries, their political and military success is acknowledged, and even while they are hosted at the highest level, why are their political achievements not acknowledged? This needs to be questioned. We see that a set has been taken against Turkey's attacks, with the US-led coalition shooting down Turkey's UAV(Drone). International powers are telling Turkey once again: Türkiye are destabilizing this place, they are taking Türkiye's 'security' concerns into account for now, but as soon as Türkiye takes it forward, they will set up a barrier. This reveals the hypocritical attitude of the powers that be.”
