RIHA - Olive branches were left at the grave of Bedriye Demir, one of the Riha Mothers for Peace, who died last year due to health problems.
Bedriye Demir, Mother of Peace who died on January 6, 2023, in the hospital where she was treated in Riha (Urfa), was commemorated at her grave on the anniversary of her death. Riha Mothers for Peace Assembly, Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) activists and DEM Party Riha Deputy Dilan Kunt Ayan attended the commemoration held at Demir's grave in Bediuzzaman Cemetery.
Speaking at the commemoration, which started with a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle for democracy, Meyaser Korkmaz, Mother of Peace said: "Our mother Bedriye Demir lost her life longing for peace. One of her sons was in exile and she could not see him. This caused her great pain. Our mother always wanted peace, and we also want peace. We leave an olive branch representing peace on her grave. We want peace in the hope that no mother will long for peace from now on."
'WE WILL CONTINUE THE STRUGGLE UNTIL THE END'
Deputy Dilan Kunt Ayan said: "We lost our mother Bedriye last year. Mother Bedriye and thousands of mothers fought for peace and lost their lives for this cause. Mothers longed for their children and closed their eyes. Here, in the person of mother Bedriye, we make this promise to all mothers; we will end the struggle for peace. We will continue to fight until peace, freedom and equality come to these lands."
After the speeches, olive branches and flowers were left for Demir and prayers were read.
