ISTANBUL- Many relatives of prisoners who started a Justice Watch to demand the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan were detained while asking for a statement in front of Metris Type T Closed Prison.
Many prisoners' relatives, who started a Justice Watch to demand the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, wanted to make a press statement in front of Metris Type T Closed Prison in Esenler. People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Istanbul Deputy Çiçek Otlu also supported the statement.
Although the police surrounded the prison area with detention vehicles, the relatives of the prisoners who were determined to make a statement were blockaded by the police in the Karadeniz District while they wanted to come to the prison. Relatives of the prisoners, who reacted to the police's attempt to prevent them, were detained here. Our reporter Ferhat Sezgin, who wanted to record the moments of detention, was beaten and knocked to the ground by the police.
OTLU: END THE ISOLATION
Deputy Çiçek Otlu, who reacted to the situation after the relatives of the prisoners were taken into custody, came to the prison despite all the obstacles of the police. Otlu said: “Absolute isolation is applied in prisons. We want the isolation of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan to end. We support the hunger strike started by prisoners in prisons. We will destroy this. We will break the unfair lawlessness."
