WAN - Aslıhan Timur, the prisoner's mother who has been at the Justice Watch in Wan for 50 days, stated that they want to hear from Abdullah Öcalan.

The global campaign launched on October 10, 2023, against the Imrali isolation, demanding "freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue", continues with the hunger strike of thousands of prisoners on November 27, 2023. The Justice Watch initiated by the families of prisoners has entered its 50th day. Aslıhan Timur, mother of Botan Timur, who has been imprisoned in the "category" section of Van Type F Prison for 9 years, continues the Justice Watch at the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Provincial Organization building in Wan, led by  Association of Solidarity with Detainees and Convict Families (TUHAY-DER).

Mother Timur, who has continued to seek justice in the face of state oppression since her childhood, lived in the Mezra village of Şirnex's Elkê (Beytüşebap) district, and settled in Colemêrg in 1988 against the state village guard imposition.

PRESSURE SINCE THE 90'S

Aslıhan Timur, who was the target of increasing state pressure in the 1990s, had 4 young children taken into custody and 2 of her sons were arrested. As a result of the police raid on the Timur family's house in 2014, Azad, Naim and Botan Timur were also detained. Naim and Botan Timur were arrested by the court they were brought to. Among the Timur brothers who were sent to prison in Wan, Naim was released after 8 months and Botan was released after a year in Ankara Sincan Prison, where he was transferred against his will. Botan Timur, who was wanted for allegedly being a "suicide bomber" in 2016, was detained with his brother as a result of a police raid while he was staying at the house of his older brother, Rojhat Timur, to whose in Wan. Botan Timur, one of the brothers who was tortured during detention, was arrested by the court on the same grounds, while Rojhat Timur was released. Mother Aslıhan Timur, who said that they moved from Colemêrg to Wan after her child Botan was arrested, said that she would continue her fight for justice despite all this state pressure.

MOTHER TIMUR: I RISED AGAINST OPPRESSION

Stating that her son Botan Timur has been held in a single room for 9 years, mother Timur stated that she had fought against oppression and cruelty before. Stating that the struggle for justice has deepened after the unlawful trial against her son, mother Timur said: “There is lawlessness in Turkey, which are not found in any law or state. I did not accept this situation and will not accept it. I resisted, vowing to fight against injustice every day. I rebelled against this oppression and oppression. We started a watch action with the families of prisoners in 2022. We started to hold watch action in front of the prison, hospital, ATK and courthouse. We wanted to be a voice against the prisoners and this injustice. We stayed on guard to stop torturing my children. Our children were tortured by guards called robots by raiding their wards. We will continue to defend justice against torture.”

'MOTHERS MUST TAKE CARE OF THEIR CHILDREN'

Mother Timur said that she participated in the Justice Watch action to ensure justice and emphasized that they are struggling to eliminate this injustice. Mother Timur said: “We will not give up seeking justice. We will continue to be a voice for our children's voices. We are here of our own will, we have been here demanding justice for 50 days. I call out to all mothers; Let's take care of our children and support their struggle.”

‘WE WILL CONTINUE TO RESIST'

Reacting to the isolation policy against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Timur said: “There has been no news from Mr. Öcalan for 34 months. Meeting applications of the lawyer and his family are rejected. The hunger strike that started in the dungeons is against this unlawful isolation. Right now, cries for justice are rising from all over Turkey. It is the most natural right of the Kurds to receive news from Mr. Öcalan. We will continue to resist this oppression.”
