ŞIRNEX – In Şirnex dengbêj Fedile Aytiş and Mother for Peace Meliha Atak express their longing for PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan with the kilams they sing.

The international conspiracy against PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who is held in absolute isolation in Imralı Type F High Security Prison, on February 15, 1999, has passed its 25th anniversary. Many things have been written and drawn about the conspiracy. It was not only written down, but also became the subject of the works of many artists. Dengbêj Fedile Aytış and Mother for Peace Meliha Atak, who live in Şirnex, have been showing both their reactions against the conspiracy and their longing for the PKK Leader through kilams (folk music) for years.

THEY SING FOR OCALAN

85-year-old dengbêj Fedile Aytış first sang the "Xwezî xeberek hatiba ji Îmraliyê" kilam in 2002 and 2003 in Amara village of Xalfetî (Halfeti) district of Riha, the village where Abdullah Ocalan was born. Pointing out that she sang her kilams for Abdullah Ocalan every time she went to Amara, Aytış said: "I went to his brothers. I went and visited the room where Ocalan stayed. I saw the table where he used to read books. But I could not see him."

"Ocalan always showed the right path. Because he is a knowledgeable person," said Aytış, adding that they could no longer hear from Ocalan and that they are reactive to this situation. Recalling Abdullah Ocalan's calls for unity towards the Kurds, Aytış said: "We must join hands and rise together."

Mother for Peace Meliha Atak has been performing the Dewrêşê Evdî kilam for Abdullah Ocalan at every event she has attended for many years. Atak stated that they could never forget the day Ocalan was arrested and said: "He is now the defender of the Kurds. He has devoted his struggle to the Kurds since he knew himself. However, most of us still do not understand him and his philosophy."

Stating that international powers developed the conspiracy process out of fear of Abdullah Ocalan's ideas, Atak said: "However, he did not remain silent in Imralı Prison either. What did they do? They said, 'We will silence his voice.' However, today, millions of people hear his voice and pay attention to that voice. October 9th to February 15th are dark days for us. When he was brought to Turkey on February 15, many people set their own bodies on fire for him. We condemn that dark day.”

"Open the gates of Imralı and start negotiations with Mr. Ocalan," said Atak, adding: "When negotiations are held with Mr. Öcalan, peace will come to the Middle East. Wars and massacres will end. Mr. Ocalan loved Derwêşê Ewdî and his song very much. That's why I sing this song at every event and program. I dedicate it to him every time I sing it."
