MÊRDÎN/ AMED - The fire that broke out in the area between Şemrex and Çınar districts grew and spread to residential areas, and it was stated that there were dead and injured people.

The fire, which broke out for an unknown reason in the area between Mêrdîn's Şemrex (Mazıdağı) and Amed's Çınar district, grew and spread to residential areas. As the fire grew, the villagers left their homes and it was learned that there were deaths and injuries.

While citizens facing the danger of burning were waiting for the intervention of the authorities, Şemrex Co-Mayor Kudret Uçuk, whom we met with, said: “The situation is very bad. We informed the District Governor and the Governor and asked for a helicopter. But it still hasn't been sent. Firefighters cannot intervene in the fire. The fire department is inadequate. It is necessary to intervene with a helicopter as soon as possible. People are burning there."

'INTERVENTION FROM THE AIR' CALL

While all fire brigades and ambulances in Mêrdîn were dispatched to the region, it was stated that additional vehicles were provided from Amed due to insufficient vehicles. While no intervention has been made from the air yet, Çınar Municipality Co-Mayor Semra Akyüz stated that the fire was big and there were dead and injured people and made the following call: “It is difficult to intervene in the fire from the ground. There needs to be an air intervention as soon as possible."
