Öcalan’s Call prepared ground for conference says Zeyneb Murad

NEWS CENTER – Zeyneb Murad, Co-Chair of the Kurdish National Congress (KNK), stated that Abdullah Öcalan’s call created the foundation for the "Kurdish Unity and Common Position Conference," saying, “After this call, the door to dialogue was opened.”

On April 26, the conference was held in Qamishlo with the participation of parties and organizations from North and East Syria and delegates from other parts of Kurdistan. A “position document” released at the conference emphasized Kurdish unity.

THE PROCESS OF REALIZING THE CONFERENCE

Zeyneb Murad expressed that the conference was the result of years of work. “The Kurdish Unity and Common Position Conference has been on our agenda for years. As KNK, we have been working for years to make this conference happen. Bringing together the four parts of Kurdistan and holding this conference required great effort,” she said. Zeyneb Murad highlighted that international changes, as well as developments in the Middle East, increased the importance of the conference.

THE JOINT STATEMENT ON SOLVING THE KURDISH QUESTİON

Zeyneb Murad stated that the conference was an important step for solving the Kurdish question and said: “The joint statement released after the conference stressed the need to recognize the rights of the Kurdish people. After the fall of the Assad regime, the rights of the Kurdish people were ignored by the new administration.” Zeyneb Murad pointed out that the conference aimed to defend the rights of the Kurdish people and engage in dialogue with the new Syrian government.

THE IMPACT OF ÖCALAN’S CALL

Zeyneb Murad stated that Abdullah Öcalan’s “Call for Peace and a Democratic Society” on February 27 formed the basis for the conference. “After this call, representatives from the four parts went to the field. The call opened the door to dialogue and ensured the success of the conference,” she added.

HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

Zeyneb Murad emphasized that the delegation formed after the conference would continue dialogue with the Syrian government and the autonomous administration, saying, “A bigger task lies ahead. This process is an important step in protecting the Kurdish people’s national gains. The will for unity has been formed, and we believe we will succeed in this process.”
