ANKARA – Salar Abdurrahman, Secretary of the KSDP Youth Movement, said their request to meet Abdullah Ocalan aims to convey the support of young people from Southern Kurdistan for the on-going political process.

Members of the KSDP Youth Movement, active in the Kurdistan Region, applied to the Turkish Ministry of Justice to visit Öcalan and shared details of their initiative with MA. Abdurrahman stated that they came from Silêmanî (Sulaymaniyah) with a group representing different political parties and tendencies to support the Peace and Democratic Society Process. “We want to observe Turkey’s political atmosphere and understand how the political process in Northern Kurdistan is progressing,” he said, noting that their first goal, visiting Northern Kurdistan, has already been achieved before arriving in Ankara to declare their support.

Explaining their request to meet Öcalan, Abdurrahman said: “We want to observe his health, understand how the process has affected him, and hear about it directly from him. We also want to convey the support of the youth of Southern Kurdistan.”

He added that young people in the Kurdistan Region have not yet taken an active enough role and expressed hope that they will engage more in struggles for freedom, democracy, and justice.

‘ÖCALAN IS A RESPECTED FIGURE ACROSS KURDISTAN’

Highlighting Öcalan’s influence on regional developments, Abdurrahman said: “Leader Apo is a figure whose messages are taken seriously across Kurdistan. Since the long struggle in Northern Kurdistan could not achieve the desired outcome, he initiated this new civil and democratic process, through which the Kurdish people can play a stronger role in the region.”

‘WE WILL FULFILL OUR RESPONSIBILITIES’

Abdurrahman emphasized that Kurdish youth will continue to stand with the Kurdish people: “We have always been in solidarity on issues that benefit Kurds. As a civil youth movement, we cannot avoid responsibility. We are ready to fulfill our duties wherever needed, and our party’s leadership will also take steps to contribute to this process,” he said.
