IHD Ankara Branch announced its 6-month report on prisons in Central Anatolia Region. The report includes 980 violations of right to health and 408 cases of torture and ill-treatment.
Politicians who followed the historic statement in Ankara called for a democratic constitution and an end to the attacks.
PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan's family and guardian applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and İmralı Prison Directorate requesting a meeting.
Journalist Oral Çalışlar stated that if Abdullah Öcalan's call is utilised correctly, Turkey can set sail for new horizons and said that the forces of democracy have a great responsibility for a solution.
Citizens who flocked to Sheikh Said Square in the early hours of the morning to listen to the call said that they had received the call and that they would follow it. "Let the isolation end, let Serok (Leader) come together with his people" said citizens.
Sabiha Aslan is the sistor of Veysi Aktaş, a prisoner in İmralı, who was in the photo frame of the historic call made by PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. "For there to be a solution, their physical freedom must be ensured. The Kurdish people have taken a step and now it is the state's turn to take the second step," she said.
Pointing to the call made by PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, "There are things that the state and the government should do, steps that should be taken. Especially in the field of law, there is an urgent need for steps, reforms and democratisation," says DEM Party MP Saruhan Oluç.
Listening to Abdullah Öcalan's historic call in Sheikh Said Square, "Mr Öcalan has taken the first step, this is not an end but a beginning. This message is for everyone. The government has to do its part from now on," says Kasım Karataş, who was imprisoned for 33 years.
Abdullah Öcalan welcomed the delegation with morale and enthusiasm. The meeting lasted 4 hours and was filmed with 3 cameras. The most striking aspect of the call was the striking sentence Öcalan said to the delegation after reading the text.
Prime Minister of the Federated Kurdistan Region Masrour Barzani said that they support and are ready to contribute to any peaceful solution efforts regarding Abdullah Öcalan's historic call.
EP Rapporteur on Turkey Nacho Sánchez Amor stated that Abdullah Öcalan's call is the best starting point for a solution to the Kurdish issue.
Commenting on Abdullah Öcalan's call, "A road map must be drawn up immediately in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and civil society. It must be the beginning of the construction of a society based on human rights, equal citizenship and freedom" said Akın Birdal.
