NEWS CENTER - Îlham Ehmed, who made the opening speech of the Conference on the Common Position, stated that the components of North and East Syria have shown that pluralism is not a threat but a strength and said: "The new Syria cannot be built without recognising the rights of all components and ensuring their active participation."

The Conference on the Common Position of the Components of North and East Syria started at the Culture and Art Centre in the Xweran neighbourhood of Hesekê in the Cizirê Canton of North and East Syria.

Approximately 500 delegates attended the conference organised under the slogan "Together for diversity that strengthens our unity and cooperation that builds our tomorrow". The participants included politicians, intellectuals, Arab and Kurdish tribal sheikhs, Assyrian-Chaldean, Armenian, Turkmen and Circassian representatives, as well as the co-chairs of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Syrian Democratic Assembly (MSD), political parties and women's organisations.

PLURALISM IS STRENGTH

Îlham Ehmed, Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, who made the opening speech of the conference, pointed out that the conference took place in a critical period in Syria and said that everyone must fulfil their political and moral responsibilities towards their country.

Ilham Ehmed said: "This Conference is the will of the peoples who resist the war together. It is an energetic expression of the will to organise against marginalisation, to get to know each other, to build a democratic model based on real cooperation and social justice. All components in North and East Syria have proved that pluralism is not a threat but a source of wealth and strength. The components of the region have shown everyone that the real defence of the country does not come from outside, but through a common will to build lasting peace and justice. Unilateral management mentality deepens crises. Genuine cooperation, mutual recognition, fair representation, true citizenship, pluralism, decentralisation and democracy as a guarantee of the unity and stability of the country. The participants here represent the essence of the constitutional drafting and political process. The new Syria cannot be built without recognising the rights of all components and ensuring their active participation. After long years of denial, I hope that this conference will be a step for a new Syria on behalf of all the components and for politics to return to its original meaning of morality."
